The Polpitiya-Hambantota 220kV transmission line project contracted by CCC is the longest transmission line in Sri Lanka. The first tower of the project was successfully erected by CCC on 21st May of 2020.
The project has been suspended since 18th March of 2020, as per the requirements of pandemic prevention and control of COVID-19 in Sri Lanka, and the project site construction was resumed on 11th May of 2020.
In order to ensure the safety of personnel and the orderly work resumption of the project, CCC took the initiative to prepare for the pandemic prevention and work resumption, and set the task of erecting the first tower of the project. Making every effort on overcoming all the difficulties, including impact of the pandemic, rainstorm, transportation difficulties and etc., CCC successfully completed the first tower erection by coordinating with the Employer, site superintendents and construction teams, following strict safety and quality control measures of the project site.
CCC will take an active and responsible role to continue to take pandemic prevention and control as the top priority, carrying out the project construction work, and executing strictly the site safety and quality control measures, to effectively ensure the smooth implementation of the project.
